Everyone in the solar industry was no doubt left very disappointed by the Government plans to slash the Feed In Tariff from December. As an MCS accredited solar PV and solar thermal installer, CB Renewables understands the pressure the industry is now under.
We stand by the hundreds of other green energy firms urging the Government to rethink its decision and give the solar PV industry a fighting chance. The green energy sector is one of the fastest growing in the UK but this news puts us right on the back foot. If the Government needs to reduce the tariffs then there must be better ways to do this while keeping incentives for consumers.
CB Renewables – a division of CB Refrigeration Ltd – has invested tens of thousands of pounds in its solar PV arm, to capitalise on one of the fastest growing industries in the UK.
However, the Government’s decision to slash the Feed In Tariff by more than 50 per cent in December will leave many installers in a precarious position. We do not want to simply throw up a poor quality kit that does neither us nor the consumer justice.
Many SMEs have moved into solar technology on the back of the promised Feed In Tariff rate and have invested tens of thousands of pounds in their business – us included. Consumers were attracted by the payback time of eight to ten years, which could now be extended by another 10 years.
CB Renewables will continue to promote the benefits of solar energy and support an industry which we believe in 100 per cent.
